Yes, there are 5 Fridays, Saturdays and Sundays this July
just as there will be in July of 2016 and as there were in 2005
(and no, those are not
anomalies).
It's not a mystery, it happens all the time
(and did even before there was an internet)
Any month that has 31 days, given that a week has 7 days, will include five Fridays,
Saturdays, and five Sundays anytime that month begins on a Friday.
And because a week
has 7 days and the standard year consists of fifty-two weeks (plus a day) said month
will start on a Friday an average of once every seven years...
Leap year gloms things up a bit and it's never exactly 7 years but more of a 6-5-6-11
year pattern.
For July the last one was in 2005, add 6 to that you get 2011, add 5 to that you get
the next one in 2016, add 6 to that......
It works the same way for all 7 of the months that have 31 days in them. Last year
August AND October both had 5 weekends (yay!).
It's very cool for weekends, especially for Friday paydays
but it's really *not* uncommon.
(also happens for other day combo's like 5 Sundays, Mondays, Tuesdays)
